Mark January 1, 2027 on your calendar 🌷 That's when the 2027 Cottage Garden BOM by Sandy of @thaicharmllc begins, and early bird registration opens today.
It's a block-of-the-month quilt inspired by a colorful garden in bloom. Month by month you make a collection of unique patchwork blocks, mixing and matching your favorite colors and prints, and at the end they all come together into one garden-inspired quilt.
A ladybug, a butterfly, a basket, a little house, a gnome, a teacup, mushrooms... each block is a tiny garden scene, and I wanted to see them at every hour of the day. So here are twelve colorings, from Dawn to Fireflies: pale backgrounds in the morning, wine, navy and charcoal at night. Half are solids, half are prints, and Golden Hour uses Autumn Folk, the palette Sandy made for QuiltInk.
🌱 Early bird pricing: save $10 if you join by October 31, 2026

My favorite hour changes every time I look 😅 What's yours?

Dawn comes first. Ethereal Pink for the sky, a terracotta ladybug, and Vanilla Custard around the edge, all of it in Pure Solids by Art Gallery Fabrics.

Morning, in prints this time. This is Meadow by Jacqueline Schmidt for P&B Textiles: cream, olive and mustard, nothing shouting. A garden looks so calm before the day gets going.

Noon is the cool one, and it's Kona Cotton by Robert Kaufman. White background, soft dusty blues, and a single ladybug in Dill green that stands out.

Teatime 🫖 Plentiful by Katarina Roccella for Art Gallery Fabrics turned the ladybug a berry pink and the little house a pale periwinkle blue.

Golden hour belongs to Sandy's own Autumn Folk palette, the one she created for QuiltInk. A dusty olive background with rosy, berry and cream prints on top.

Sunset in Cotton Couture by Michael Miller Fabrics. The background is a warm dusty rose, the ladybug turns a soft rusty brown and the house stays pale pink.

By dusk the garden turns soft and misty. Flourish by Alexandra Bordallo for Andover Fabrics on a sage blue background, with little yellow and pink florals scattered over it.

Twilight is all blues: Bella Solids by Moda Fabrics, a steel blue background, a deep sea ladybug, and a lilac mushroom at the bottom.

Nightfall, and the quilt gets dark. Meadow Walk by Alexandra Bordallo for Andover Fabrics on a deep raspberry wine background, with pinks and creams that look like they're glowing.

Moonlight, back to solids. Cotton Supremes by RJR Fabrics on an Atlantic navy background, with icy blues, silvers and a white border.

Midnight in Firefly Moon by Leah Duncan for Cloud9 Fabrics: black background with tiny white specks like stars, and peach, gold and lavender florals over it.

And the last hour of the day: Fireflies, in Confetti Cotton by Riley Blake Designs. A charcoal background and lime and pale green pieces that look like little lights in the dark.

From Dawn to Fireflies, that's twelve hours in Sandy's garden 🌙 The early bird price ends on October 31, 2026, so if you want the $10 off, don't leave it for later: https://www.thaicharmllc.com/cottagegardenbom
