Find your gem 💎
Delia of @a_stitch_is_a_stitch has released two new patterns recently, and I’m so happy you can already color both of them on QuiltInk. This one is Delightful Diamonds, rows of little diamonds nestled between bold stripes, and from the moment I started coloring it, every version reminded me of a different gemstone.
So I colored it twelve times and named each one after a gem, six in printed fabrics and six in solids, on light, medium and dark backgrounds. Same diamonds every time, and yet each one sparkles in its own way.
Delightful Diamonds comes together with strip piecing and snowballed corners, which keeps the construction efficient and approachable, and it’s fat quarter friendly, so it’s a lovely way to show off a few favorite prints from your stash.
Take a look and tell me which gem is yours, then color your own on QuiltInk and grab the pattern from Delia 🧵✨

Let's start warm 🍯 Amber is Autumn Folk, a bundle curated by Thai Charm LLC with Art Gallery Fabrics. The stripes do all the glowing here, and the olive and deep red diamonds sit on top like little leaves.

Now one in solids only. Kona Cotton by Robert Kaufman: a Windsor background, Titanium stripes, and pale diamonds in Natural, Lighthouse, Silver and Blue Bell. On that dark blue they look lit from inside.

Amethyst took me a few tries. Scout Lake by Ash Cascade for Cotton + Steel is full of dusty purples, so I put Thistle in the background, Reflection Violet in the stripes, and let Overgrown Purple and Overgrown Lake be the darkest stones.

Opal is the softest of them all. Pure Solids by Art Gallery Fabrics, with Coconut Milk and Sandstone as the base and tiny flashes of Quartz Pink, Aqua, Buttermilk and Day Dreamer. If you are a pastel person, this is your gem.

Dark blue with rust. I didn't expect to like it this much! It's Sienna and Indigo by Hello Aunty Design for Cloud9 Fabrics, with Wildflower Corner Blue behind everything and River Pebbles Rust in the stripes.

What if the background is the color? Here Dusty Jade fills the whole quilt, the stripes are Eggshell, and the diamonds go from Mint to Christmas Green with a little Bubble Gum for fun. All Bella Solids by Moda Fabrics.

Rose Quartz, for the romantics 🌸 Dreamy Sunset is a fabric bundle by Binded with Love and it does what its name says: Sugar Plum stripes on a warm background, and diamonds in flamingo, blush and raisin.

Garnet is the bold one. Century Solids by Andover Fabrics, a Wine background with Champagne stripes, and diamonds in Dawn, Barn Rose, Clay and Ivory. I can picture it on a sofa in December.

A green quilt, why not? Le Chateau by Max & Louise for Andover Fabrics has the sweetest small prints. Green behind, cream stripes, and a few red diamonds to wake it up.

After so much color, some fresh air. Aquamarine is Confetti Cotton by Riley Blake Designs: Pistachio stripes on white, and diamonds in Misty, Songbird, Seafoam and Capri, with a touch of Peaches 'n Cream.

I wasn't sure about prints on an almost black background, and now it's one I keep going back to. Dancing Daisies by Casey Cometti for Riley Blake Designs, with Wayward Carbon behind and diamonds in ecru, golden, brick and cinnamon.

The last one is Agate, in Cotton Supremes by RJR Fabrics. The background is Kona Coffee, the stripes are Egg Nog, and the diamonds are Cafe au Lait, Croissant, Bowood, Pewter and Stormy Night. It reads like a breakfast menu ☕

So, which gem is yours? 💎 All twelve are on the QuiltInk Wall if you want to see them up close. And if you color your own Delightful Diamonds, please show me!
