September 26 QuiltInk Challenge Winner

Autumn Folk palette by Sandy of Thai Charm with AFG
October 1, 2026

October is here, and before we move on, let's talk about what happened on the Wall this past month.

Autumn Folk was never going to be an obvious palette. Sandy Saengsuk of Thai Charm built it by pulling prints from several different Art Gallery Fabrics collections, mixing burgundy, plum, cinnamon and ochre with dusty pinks, lavender, soft sage and warm creams, and that lavender was the part I was most curious about. It is not a color most of us reach for in autumn.

And then you reached for it. Over and over.

Some of you leaned into the warm side and let the burgundy and ochre carry everything. Others built entire quilts around the sage and the soft creams and got something that feels like fall without a single obvious fall color in sight. A few of you put the lavender right next to the deepest plum, which I would have said was a risk, and it turned out to be the best thing on the Wall.

That is exactly what Sandy meant when she said she likes combinations that feel a little unexpected together.

We closed the giveaway with 404 mock-ups this month, and going through them one by one was a genuinely good way to spend an afternoon.

But you're here for the announcement, so let's get to it.

Congratulations! 💛

clrgygrl's mock-up of Windmill Quilt by Thai Charm LLC was randomly selected as our winner, earning both prizes this month: a copy of The Patchwork Companion by Sandy Saengsuk, and an Autumn Folk Fat Quarter Bundle sponsored by Art Gallery Fabrics.

You'll be hearing from me by email very soon with all the details.

There is something nice about the winning mock-up being one of Sandy's own patterns colored in Sandy's own palette, and now the book and the fabrics are both heading to the same person. That is a very good month.

A huge thank you to Sandy for sponsoring the book and for putting Autumn Folk together in the first place, and to Art Gallery Fabrics for the bundle. If you want the fabrics in your own hands, Autumn Folk is available through Art Gallery Fabrics stockists, and Sandy's free Soft Grid Quilt pattern is still waiting on the Thai Charm website if you need somewhere to put them.

And to everyone who joined in, thank you. Every mock-up shared on the Wall gives somebody else an idea they hadn't thought of, and that is exactly what makes this community what it is.

If you haven't gone through all the entries yet, head to the Wall and filter by Past Challenges. There is a lot of burgundy and sage waiting for you there, and plenty of ideas for your next quilt.

And if you're already wondering what comes next, stay close. A new palette is on its way, and I cannot wait to see what you do with it.

Happy coloring! 💛
